Processing a Prescription Using the Queue Button
When processing a prescription, you have the option to queue the prescription in the background. This is accomplished using the Queue button in Rx Detail. When you select Queue instead of Fill, the prescription is submitted to the Third Party and the claim results are deferred for later viewing. A benefit of using the Queue button is that it allows you to use Propel Rx within the same instance while adjudication is occurring for one or more prescriptions. If you'd rather see the results of the claim immediately, use the Fill button instead.
To process a prescription using the Queue button:
-
Process a prescription until it reaches Rx Detail.
-
Select Queue.
The prescription is submitted in the background to the first Third Party.
-
When the claim returns from the Third Party, you can check the results of the submission from the Claim Summary window.
-
If the prescription requires additional intervention (e.g., intervention codes, Third Party skip, waives), the prescription remains in a Queued status. If this occurs, Process the prescription from the Data Entry queue or Patient Profile and perform the necessary actions.
-
If the prescription does not require additional intervention, it changes to a Complete status and moves to the next Workflow step.
