OTC Inventory Transfer Frequently Asked Questions
This topic is intended for Independent pharmacies only and is not applicable to Rexall pharmacies.
No. Resetting is not recommended for POS Products. Resetting inventory wipes out the product's POS Transfer history - all of the POS Product Transfer adjustments are deleted from the database, which means there is no audit history of transfers. Your accountant or bookkeeper may use the POS Product Transfer adjustments to compare Propel Rx data with Propel POS data. Only reset a POS Product's inventory as a last resort, provided inventory cannot be corrected manually, and all other adjustment options have been exhausted.
To remove an owe amount on a Propel POS Product, create a manual adjustment in Propel Rx to add inventory to the product and then reconcile the owe amount.
To create a manual adjustment:
-
Open the Drug Folder.
-
In the Inventory tab, select the pack size to be adjusted.
-
Select Adjust. The Total On Hand Adjustment window opens.
-
In the Adjustment field, enter the unit quantity that is being added to inventory (i.e., the SAME quantity as the product's owe amount).
-
Select a Reason (i.e., Physical Count).
-
Optional: Enter a Comment.
-
Update the User if needed.
-
Select OK.
For information on reconciling owe amounts, see Reconciling Owe Balances.
The database uses two special manual adjustment reasons for POS inventory transfers. These cannot be selected when performing manual adjustments as they are required to identify the automated setup and transfer information between Propel Rx and Propel POS. The reasons are as follows:
-
POS Product Transfer - identifies automated inventory transfers.
-
POS PharmaClik Rx Link Startup - identifies adjustments created when Propel Rx was set up for POS Inventory Transfer.
If Propel Rx cannot connect to Propel POS for an inventory transfer request, a prompt indicates that Propel Rx cannot communicate with Propel POS. Communication must be re-established before any POS inventory transfers can take place.
