This topic is intended for Independent pharmacies only and is not applicable to Rexall pharmacies.
When a prescription contains AR in the billing code, the Patient Pays amount is submitted to AR instead of Cash.
AR is displayed beside the Patient Pays field when the Claim Summary appears.
At this point, you can waive any necessary amounts. Nothing has been billed to AR.
The amount in the Patient Pays will be billed to AR once you select OK.
What Prints on the Label Set?
The Privacy label prints Patient Pays $0.00 because nothing will be collected from the patient when the prescription is picked up.
The Patient Pays on the receipt is the amount charged to AR, allowing the patient to manually submit the receipt to their insurance plan (i.e., the receipt prints Patient Pays $3.95 for the prescription shown above.
