Adding Products to an Order Group

Products can be added to an existing Order Group if they share the same GCN. The product uses the group's reorder method and reorder parameters and shares its On Hand quantity with other group members for order management. If a product belongs to an Order Group, a corresponding icon appears beside the Pack Size field in the Drug Folder Inventory tab > Pack Detail section.

Automatically Adding Products to an Order Group

When the Order Grouping preference is turned ON, Propel Rx automatically creates Order Groups and adds products to them based on GCN. Default pack sizes for the Order Groups are determined based on your pharmacy's affiliation with a banner.

  • If you follow a banner formulary, the Default is the Primary DIN and its default pack size. If multiple primaries exist, the DIN with the highest On Hand value is used. If the On Hand values are the same, the DIN with a ReOrder Point set is used.

If the Primary changes on a banner formulary, the Default flag will not be updated automatically. Your pharmacy will need to update it manually.

  • If you don't follow a banner formulary, the Default is the DIN with the highest On Hand value and its default pack size. If the On Hand values are the same, the DIN with a ReOrder Point set is used.

Automatic Order Group creation is a one-time action that occurs when the Order Grouping preference is enabled.

Manual Adding Products to an Order Group

Products can also be manually added to an Order Group. Any user type has the permissions to do this.

To add a product to an Order Group:

  1. Open the Drug Folder for one of the products in the Order Group.

  2. In the Inventory tab, under the Packs Available section, select a pack size that belongs to the Order Group.

  3. Under the Pack Detail section, select the Order Group button on the bottom right.

    The Order Grouping window opens.

  4. Select Add.

The Drug and Mixture Search window opens.

  5. Search for and select the drug.

All pack sizes for the drug that are not already part of an Order Group will be added automatically to the Order Group.

  6. Select Save then Close.

    • If the product was not monitored, the Monitor flag is turned ON automatically.

    • If the Group Reorder Method is set to Guided Reordering, the Guided Reorder Point (Guided ROP) is recalculated based on the pack size(s) added. Changes to the Guided ROP are recorded in the Drug Folder History tab.

    • Additions to the Order Group are recorded in the Drug Folder History tab of the drug that was added.
