Adding a Drug with a DIN or Item Number
Drugs can be added to the database by accessing the Drug Add application on the desktop. This application is used to add drug or over-the counter (OTC) items that currently do not exist in Nexxsys. The drug will be added once reviewed and accepted by Central File Maintenance (CFM) at head office.
To add a drug that has a DIN or item number:
- From the Desktop, double-click the Drug Add
icon. The Drug Add window opens.
- Select a Search Type.
- DIN - primary method of searching. Use this option first.
- Item Number - if the product does not have a DIN but is purchased through McKesson, search by Item Number.
- Other - if the product does not have a DIN and is not purchased through McKesson, see Adding a Drug without a DIN or Item Number for more information.
- In the textbox, enter the DIN or the Item Number depending on the Search type selected.
- Select Add.... The Confirm Drug Create window appears.
- In the Confirm Drug Create window, enter and review the product information.
- Select Confirm. A prompt displays.
- Select OK.
Note: If adding new drug using CFM Drug Add, log a ticket using the IT Support Desk Wizard, so that the item can be added for all stores.
