Adding a Drug with a DIN or Item Number

Drugs can be added to the database by accessing the Drug Add application on the desktop. This application is used to add drug or over-the counter (OTC) items that currently do not exist in Nexxsys. The drug will be added once reviewed and accepted by Central File Maintenance (CFM) at head office.

To add a drug that has a DIN or item number:

  1. From the Desktop, double-click the Drug Add icon. The Drug Add window opens.
  2. Select a Search Type.
    • DIN - primary method of searching. Use this option first.
    • Item Number - if the product does not have a DIN but is purchased through McKesson, search by Item Number.
    • Other - if the product does not have a DIN and is not purchased through McKesson, see Adding a Drug without a DIN or Item Number for more information.
  3. In the textbox, enter the DIN or the Item Number depending on the Search type selected.
  4. Select Add.... The Confirm Drug Create window appears.
  5. In the Confirm Drug Create window, enter and review the product information.
  6. Select Confirm. A prompt displays.
  7. Select OK.

Note: If adding new drug using CFM Drug Add, log a ticket using the IT Support Desk Wizard, so that the item can be added for all stores.
